about

Wayside and Geomagnetic present this outstanding new 6 track Maxi EP from UK local legend Guerilla Nature including a heartfelt chill track with Mary Singer "Who Will Buy".

Guerrilla Nature was born and bred in Leicester, where he spent the first 32 years of his life. He was a member of the now disbanded M’lester Grittee Committee (M.G.C.) with Dise Beats, Gobshite, Task 1 and Synopsis.
A long hiatus from writing and performing provided opportunities for gaining other skills and travelling, but that layoff was brought to a conclusion in early 2020 when Guerrilla returned from south east Asia, upon realizing that endeavors which involve creativity with words were the ones to which he would choose to dedicate the remainder of his existence.
The first official E.P. release was called “Straight Out Uv Leicester”, which is out now on all major platforms. It features a collaboration with Leicester legend Calvin J, which combines a charming blend of acoustic guitar and uplifting vocals with deeply considered rap lyrics that were previously recorded but never formally published, on a track named simply “Strong”.
The second E.P., Unimaginatively Titled, features a collaboration called “True” that was produced by another Leicester legend, Collo. This track features big old hip-hop beats and a beautiful piano break. Unimaginatively Titled also features another acoustic offering to follow the collaboration with Calvin J; this time a track themed around the ecological influence of human existence, entitled “Who Will Buy”, which showcases Mary Singer from Mia And The Moon’s considerable abilities on guitar and vocals. The second E.P. will soon be available on www.guerrillanature.com (… edit as appropriate…and Geomagnetic records subsidiary …insert name of label… remove brackets/parentheses and italicised text).
The other nine of the twelve instrumentals on the first two E.P.’s were arranged and produced by Dise Beats of M.G.C. during the days when that crew were still together. All of the vocals for both of the first two E.P.’s were recorded with Michal Kais as part of H.Q. Can, which is local Leicester entrepreneur Yasin El Ashrafi’s way of helping local artists access recording facilities. The aforementioned acoustic collaborations were recorded there in their entirety.
With Dise having unofficially retired from making hip-hop, that line of classic boom-bap style will have to be replaced, so suitable instrumental homes are being sought for the profusion of poetry that is continually progressing towards being ready for recording when the opportunity arises. There are already murmurs of further collaborations with other Leicester legends, as well as digital producers from Africa and a British singer-songwriter whose completely independent but astonishingly rapid rise to stardom seems unstoppable. All will be revealed in due course.
At 39 years of age, Guerrilla Nature lives in his native Leicester and is now part of a band called Nature And The Beasts, who aim to record material when they are ready to record an album but intend to continue playing live gigs in the meantime. The band features multi-instrumentalists Alex Hopps, David French and Stefan Man, along with DJ Low 3 (formerly a the DJ for Offbeat Reprobates) who also fulfils all graphic design requirements for any projects orchestrated principally by Guerrilla.
As if things weren’t busy enough, Guerrilla Nature has been building his own website, aided by advice and assistance from his old friend Badger, with a view to developing a larger scale customised version very soon. Again, there is apparently plenty more to come in that regard.
It would appear that the creative endeavours know few bounds with this wordsmith as he strives to develop every aspect of his abilities wherever possible.
